Welcome to the Barton Database

Started as a "Why don't I photocopy other Barton's information while I'm in the library copying mine" project, this database has grown to over 24,000 names with richly documented sources. After Gary started a two-year sabbatical in late 2004 Paul "Jim" Barton assumed the reins as Database Manager. He compiled data for thousands of persons which is now being researched, verified and reformatted for this new platform. We extend grateful thanks to Jim!

Please note, though, that our database is secondary research and is not original research of the Barton Historical Society. Therefore, please use this tool as a starting point only and do your own original research.

To keep the database to a manageable size only Barton's and their spouses (and the spouse's parents) are shown. Collateral (daughter) lines are important, though, and you may post yours along with your Barton line to the Family History page of our host organization http://www.bartonsite.org or to the very helpful http://www.worldfamilies.net Please note that to protect the privacy of the living details about them are not shown. Nobody knows your line better than you. If you spot discrepancies please notify us of any corrections, additions or deletions. Thanks!
